When shooting paintballs, your first shot is by far the most important. As that will often alert other players to your position. So being able to HIT your target with that first shot is critical. So you want your marker to have as close to the same velocity as possible for each shot. This is called fps (feet per second). The best of the best markers will shoot the exact same fps every shot... This is EXTREMELY rare. You hear people often say their marker will do it, but to actually SEE it live is very rare. I've never seen anyone else with a marker that shoots as consistently as mine do, so I figured I should make a video to show how I get ALL of my A-5's to perform like this. You can spend a ton of money building a marker that will shoot +/- 3 fps. Or you can take a typical Tippmann Blowback and with a little work you can make it perform to this demanding standard. +/- 3 fps is close enough that your shots will be completely predictable. Of course, by far the most important thing you buy is paint! As that has the BIGGEST factor in your ability to shoot accurately, and everything else has less importance.
With a good barrel, any paintball gun with consistent fps will make a good shooter. Again, the paint is often the difference between a great day at the field and an OK day...
Here is a completely stock 2011 style (new A-5) that I have polished the internals, and changed the o-rings to high performance buna (I prefer silicon o-rings but they are hard to find...) and done the following maintenance to. I do this to all my A-5's, as soon as I see them with fps fluctuations of more than 10 fps, as that indicates the power tube has gotten dirty and it needs to be cleaned and oiled.
I am using Co2 out of a 20 ounce tank, and a remote line which acts as an expansion chamber and will make your shots more consistent. I am also using WAL-Mart paint in this video, just because everyone says you can't shoot consistently with co2, or a gun sold at wal-mart, or with wal-mart paintballs. haha!
Here is how you too can have performance like this out of your blowback Tippmann!
