As some of you may have heard, there's going to be some significant changes made to how they run D-Day in 2014. Beyond a doubt the most significant change will be with the fact that instead of them scoring the event solely on the basis of who scores the most points on Saturday, they now propose to transform it into a two day scoring event with the addition of the points collected during a half day Friday aspect. Here's how this was described by Travis Posey, the commanding general for the Allied 82nd AB following talks earlier this week with Ed Covey, the event coordinator for D-Day Park. Okay here is the skinny of what the bunker has planned for at least Friday at this point and a visual to help. Anything can change however between now and 345 days from now: From my discussions with Ed the other week (and this may have changed/might still change) is that Airborne units will still be just that. Airborne units. Beaches are being expanded in width and depth. For example, Utah could stretch from its current northern boundary down into the valley and then into the west woods and possibly up to old Brecourt or somewhere into the west woods to establish a beach head. Airborne units would still drop from the trucks behind the lines. It's just a complete re-imagining of the D-Day game. No longer should it just be Utah beach units get off the boats, turn left, and keep going until we run into Omaha. The game will be East to West in nature, at least for Friday. --> Ed confirms Travis Posey Commanding General, 82nd Airborne Division fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/p320x320/1005408_10151686877194222_853507306_n.jpg

I am curious, who on this board was able to make it to the 2013 game ? If you made it where are you located ? How did you get there ?
Just curious on how far people were willing to drive, fly, etc... and the experience that it provided ? This past year it was just to far for me in AZ.

Right now most players are just focused on what they're going to be doing over the course of the next few months, but for a dedicated few it's already time to start planning what they'll be doing next June. That's when they'll be attending the next edition of the Oklahoma D-DAY Event. Check out the newly released 5th Edition of the X-3 D-DAY Special Edition online magazine, then start planning to join us next June. www.joomag.com/magazine/paintballx3-magazine/0343913001376417595

Ok, by now you should have finished opening all those cool presents you found waiting for you under your Christmas tree and also emptied the last of your eggnog.
While things are still slow and you've got time on your hands, I'd like to make another pitch to recruit you. D-Day and most of the players who attend it really have no concept of how much impact just a few skilled snipers can have and it's my goal to help show them.
If you've got questions or would just like to discuss your potential role, let me know by e-mail or by giving me a call. The one good thing about being retired is it leaves me with plenty of spare time.
Sincerely,
Andy Van Der Plaats

Just had notification that "Team Ragnarok" from NM will be joining the 325th GIR once again for this years game. Do not have definite numbers yet. If you happen to live out in NM, this may be a good way to save some money.
Sincerely,

Finally, the news I know a lot of you have been waiting for, NETFLIX now offers the 'Soldiers Of Paint' movie! If you haven't seen it, here's a chance to see what everyone is talking about. Just remember, the film is only half the story. For the full story you'll have to buy a copy of their DVD. You can do that online at several places, including straight from the source - Soldiers of Paint | Movie About D-Day Restaged as a Paintball Game

Gentlemen and Ladies, As Commander of the 82nd Airborne I want you to know that 2014 is going to be an amazing D-Day. There will be some changes that will make the game different but as Airborne we are always prepared for whatever is thrown our way. Join me as we are dropped behind enemy lines and tasked with outflanking and destroying our German opponents on 1000 acres of intense terrain and cities. You won't want to miss this year. I make a promise to my guys the day before the big game that I will keep them engaged for 8 straight hours and if they aren't having fun see me personally. I have had zero complaints and our numbers have grown. Will you take on the challenge and join the 82nd Airborne? AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY!!! __________________ Posey COMMANDER 82nd Airborne Division Team Captain Drifters www.drifterspb.com~~~~~~~~~~~~

ATTENTION ALL PERSONNEL Oklahoma D-Day is now just over two months away. It's time to start deciding on which side/unit is best suited for your style of play. Both sides will be looking to employ seasoned snipers for a variety of missions. This event isn't going to be as large as it has been in past years, but it's still far and away more challenging, both in terms of terrain as well as in the number of potential targets. It's also the ONLY Major event which offers players a night time aspect. If you've been thinking of playing a critical game changing role in ANY event this summer, D-Day is the one you can't afford to miss. Those seeking answers to which unit is best for them are asked to check out the official D-Day forum, which can be found here wwww.ddaypark.com

If you're asking me if the 82nd plans to use snipers, I'd suggest jumping onto their Facebook page and asking them yourself. Reason I don't know is largely because they are more known for covering a lot of ground, as well as for serving as a ready reaction force, as opposed to one that holds territory. 82nd AB 505th www.facebook.com/groups/163465223721352/82nd AB PF www.facebook.com/groups/157228707657271/NOTE, there are several other components of the 82nd which have elected to keep their FB pages closed or only open by invite. So check with the two above, or also with the Allied Command's newest site. See below for a link to that one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Allied Army has also put together a website to bring all the information of all Allied units together in one place. Check out the 82nd page here and feel free to explore the rest of the site. This site is in development mode so if there are things you wish to see let me know. Travis Posey, CO for the 82nd is also a part of the marketing group. Also if you are interested in being a contributor let me know. okddayallies.co/divisions/82nd-airborne-division/

Heads up everyone.
There's a new Allied SAC in charge this year and he's someone who understands as well as appreciates what a good paintball sniper can do. His name is Steven Armstrong. If you'd like to play on a team which looks to maximize your skills, join up with the Allies.

While there's still over a month to go before the main D-Day event, the Bunker wants everyone to know that the cutoff for those who want to PRE-REGISTER is May 17th.
That's also probably the cut off for those who want to enlist with a specific unit, or side.
Just saying....
