Finally got my battlestixx 14" with .683 .686 and .688 fins. Tried it today in my DAM 291-293fps with virtue clock(.686 fin) without leaking thats the first time ;D with FS that had been standing nose down for about a week in room temp. To my surprise it was like shooting normal paintballs, did not get the range i thought i would get, i felt like they almost dropbombed on me like an apex turned upside down. Fps was good no sign of dropoff when i rapidfired, air checked, nice battery, and a warm DAM, luubed , did not have a normal barrel with me to check if i was being silly or not. It was so bad that when i was aiming for a friends car at the top of the backwindow with permission of course.. would say 30m away i hit the backlight, did not remember it was this bad last time i played a month ago using only FS. Just did a blow test with and without the fin on HH and marked a spot in the skirt of a fs, and blew it in my hand. FS had moved 1/4 in the rifling way, tried this like ten times same result. Did the same with a smoothbore the spot on the fs i marked did not move at all. Not very scentific but in the HH fs moved 1/4 in the length of the barrel, rifling does work, but i cant solve my poor fs perfromance out of it today oh and i used a flasc supressor on it today with 2 sqb inserts and some filter that might have moved around, will try it someother time without and such. But i dont think it would cause it to drop like it did today, fps was too consistent for that. Thoughts?

Use the .688 fin and eliminate the suppressor. There is nothing wrong the suppressor, it is just another variable. What kind of sight - red dot or scope? DJMatt is our resident Dye Dam expert.

I doubt it it's the barrel. I've been shooting FSR's through battlestixx for a year and a half and I've had no issues. I agree that you should try again on a different day and try it without the flasc suppressor just like Trinity said. That is one less variable you have to worry about it.

I absolutely agree that it isn't the barrel. I am suggesting the change of fin just in case the fin is somehow defective. I can't think of what else could cause his issues.
The other thing I am trying to figure out is exactly how much drop he really experiencing. While first strikes don't drop like round paint, they do drop. If he can zero whatever sight he is using for something like sixty feet, then we can see what kind of drop he is experiencing at distances beyond that.

I have been away from the electro world for too long and my memory is not what it used to be. I was in the middle of a set of bench presses and thinking about your problem when I realized that I had read some posts in a thread by DJMatt dealing with exactly this kind of problem. I only scanned the posts but I think it was some kind of dwell issue causing the drop-off.
The thread was on MCarterBrown's Forum and contained a lot of pages dealing specifically with the Dye Dam in general and fall-off in particular. As I remember, one of the Dye factory guys was actually troubleshooting the problems. If you can't find the thread, send DJMatt a PM. He is a member here on this forum and also on MCarterBrown. This electro/first strike thing means a whole new mental process for me when diagnosing problems. Hope it helps.

I have a Dye Dam with basically the exact same setup, HH 14" barrel, Flasc suppressor with 5" gen 2 double porting and using the .686 fin and it works great for me with FS's. I did have a lot of trouble with the first shot dropping off which would cause your shot to hit way low, after that shot it would be good until it sat for a while till the next game. I have a very high dwell, between 25-30 and after changing all the o-rings and going thru a couple air tanks of just dry firing to help break in the o-rings, it's been a lot better but still drops off a little on the first shot quite often. I also found out that the eye's are always on even if the marker is off according to the Dye tech I was working with and the Dam seems to eat batteries very quickly if you don't unplug it after the day is over which could cause some issues but if you are getting consistent FPS, I doubt that has much to do with it. I can't think of much else based on your description of everything, your setup should be good unless something's defective.

Running and lifting is the only way I can stay in the game. Beside my SR1 weighs a bit over 11 pounds and I'm afraid that if I fall down I could get trapped under the thing it's so heavy.

thanx good advices! Ill try some new batterys next! I made a discovery in the manual, in the trouble shooting part First shoot to high, not my problem but one of the causes could be ABS and solve it to shut off antiboltstick in this trouble shooting part in the manual, and its the only place that says anything on it. DJ matt if you read this in your manual you see its wierd! What trouble shooting would suggest for ABS on is factory reset...

Its a mistake from Dye I'm pretty sure. They copied the rail manual for the troubleshooting and didn't catch that. I was all excited when I saw that also. The Dye tech even suggested the abs first thing and I pointed out the mistake. Running a high dwell between 25-30 is the best fix I've found, but it does hurt efficiency. I don't know how many rounds you've put thru it but I usually play a fairly limited paint game and only go thru about 150 shots a day if I'm moving around a bunch, a lot less if I lay and wait, so it takes a while to "break in" a new marker with the 2-3 cases they usually suggest so I just filled my tank a few times and dry fired it a bunch to help with the break in without having to waist thousands of paintballs. Of course I get free air working at a field but most fields around here have all day air so might as well take advantage of it.

i got this answer from Kevin@Dye
DAM has ABS and it is always on. There is not an option to turn it off. The DIP switches on the DAM are a Tournament Lock and a Factory Default setting.
