This is a quick review of the hammerhead riffled barrel for the Tibs.
I had been put off at first because of the problems Hammerhead had when first introducing these. But, I was still interested in the M50 muzzle.
The other day, I heard about the limited run of Lapco riffled "short barrels." So, I was considering those instead; but, could not find a lapco telephone number on their site (I have one now). But, because of all those problems I decided to order a hammerhead with the M50 muzzle thru Rockstarttactical. I liked the way that hammerhead had stepped up to their error and made it right. So, I gave them another try.
Well, up until today, it has been raining and severe wind every day. But, today like everything has been going right. So I got out there with the hammerhead and the M50 muzzle and a flasc with a suppressor and db meteres, chronos, the works. Went thru over 54 rounds. No breaks with either. As suspected the Flasc is a smooth bore and is more effiecent than the hammerhead - but that's not a big deal I run these babies remote.
Lost about 30-35 feet per second with the riffling. The M50 is quiet; but, not as quiet as the Flasc. These are just facts I'm reporting. Either was very good at reducing the noise. But, down range, all you hear is the First Strike as it hits the target when you use a flasc suppressor. With Hammerhead you could hear the pop from the barrel but not that significantly.
The hammerhead at 50 yards also threw my shots to the right, but consistently and that's to be expected cause it is riffled. It was very accurate, I just need to adjust my sight cause of the riffling. That, however, I'll do at another time. This was just a quick review and comparison.
Bottom line, I like the hammerhead and it will be the new riffled barrel for my MP7 - and for now, because it is somewhat quiet and shorter, I'll keep the M50 on it too. The MP7 has always been more my CQB than a sniper rifle. So, the silent knight is happy!
