So i decided i would get myself some ”actual” paintball clothes and after looking through the ”woodsball” versions out there (not really that many worth mentioning) i decided on the Planet eclipse HDE shirt and pants. Now these were pretty expensive (around 180 $ for the set), But with the pattern/color scheme it comes with as well as all the functuality i decided it might be worth the cash.
First i'll put up some specs, then i'll give my thoughts and opinions on it and i'll finally give it a score.
Shirt:
Extremely comfortable.
Light.
Very well placed and good padding.
Really good breathability.
Velcro patches on either arm, one on the collar as well as one on the back for your name or call sign.
Micro fiber cloth sewn into the inside of the front for easy mask cleaning.
Pants:
Comfortable
Really well made with durable yet light material.
Great breathability.
Really good knee pads.
Padded crotch.
Squeegee pockets on both legs.
Hip protection.
Molle attachments on the back (the proper version, not the flimsy thin straps that doesn't work...)
Good assortment of pockets
adjustable waist and ankle cuffs and belt loops.
So what do i think of the HDE set? Well it should be quite obvious from the specs that i really love the HDE set. The pattern/color scheme is just brilliant (you'll get to see it in action when i make my camo video where we test all my camos). It's really lightweight and breaths very very well.
Knee pads work awesome, when you don't need them you won't even notice that they're there, but as soon as you put down your knees they're at the exact right place. You won't need to use any other knee pads while using these pants and best part is that you can renew them if they get banged up with normal worker knee pads that you can get from any hardware store for a few bucks (also means that if you want thicker, or thinner knee pads you can just buy other kneepads and switch). By worker kneepads i mean the ones you slide into your pants.
The Molle on the back also works great (especially for us that plays mag-fed). As you can see in the pics, i've just to show you added two mag pockets and i can tell you it's super comfortable, you get no bounching and you don't even feel the weight of the mags at all (tested it with 4 mags, you should be able to fit 5 on the molle on the belt, the lowers ones i ain't tested at all yet for anything but some 10 round tubes and a dump pouch).
For me it's infact so practical and comfortable that i don't even use a belt or vest anymore.
On the shirt i really like the different velcro options as well as the fact that you get ”flaps” that you can put on the velcro if you don't want to use it. Also my absolute favorite thing is the sewn in microfiber cloth (shown in the pictures). Thats just brilliant... going to add that to all my camo clothes!
There's really only four things i can mention thats worth taking into account before running and buying these! First off the collar is really low on the neck, leaving your whole neck and throat exposed, if you use a multi-wrap or neck protector this won't be a problem but it's still worth saying. Second thing is that the shirt is a little glossy at first when you get it, that WILL disappear like the first time you play with it. Third thing, if you like me got broad shoulders it might be worth taking a size bigger then what you normally use (i went with Large pants and X-Large shirt and fit was perfect for both). Last thing is it's price, yea they're quite expensive compared many of the non paintball made camos, but i can guarantee that these will outlast several of them. Also you can take into account all you get with this. For instance i had planned on getting new elbow pads, knee pads and a vest for this year but due to the fact that i got all these with the HDE i ended up saving all that money, making the HDE set rather cheap really .
Final verdict 10/10. Planet Eclipse should be really proud of themselves for this stunning product.
PICs!
