Awhile back on the Tiberius forum the subject of refillable mags came up. I don't feel the conversation was allowed to run it's full course so I am bringing it here. I see no reason why it would not be feasible to come up with some sort of charging station where you insert and lock in your spent mag and recharge it with liquid co2 though the valve. Even if you only get a partial charge I would think it would get you through a mag full of rounds. Here is how I envision it. You get off the field with your gear hook up your charging station to a standard refill station hose kit and a full tank, that the field lets you fill for free with paid admission, insert empty mag. You then open the tank valve, open the valve leading to the mag and close the tank valve. Then open the bleed off valve, to get your empty cartridge good and cold, close the bleed off valve and reopen the tank valve. Voila you should have a refilled mag, close the tank valve and eject full mag from charging station. Am I missing anything? 12 gram cylinders are just about bomb proof I can't imagine they would fail. The whole process should only take a few seconds, and the money saved on 12 grams could be huge. The hardest part of this whole thing is coming up with a dock for the mags. The great part is that if you need to reload on the field you can still just swap out your 12 gram. Any ideas?

Another ting you could do is make a 12 gram with an HPA nipple on the bottom of the mag. This would allow you to fill at any HPA station you want, plus give you the accuracy of HPA. It would require you redesign the mag, and possibly even make mags with HPA 12g built in for simplicity sake. You could also make a mag that lets you charge it like a RAP4 grenade launcher.

I like the idea, however I don't think HPA would work in a 12g in order to get even 8 rounds down range would require a lot more air than you can cram into that small volume. I would feel comfortable putting liquid co2 back in the mag as the pressures there are in the 800 to 1500 psi range same as they are when a 12g leaves the factory but in order to get it to work with hpa would require much higher pressure I think. Another reason I would rather stick to the co2 route is that there is no need to modify the mag, only to construct an accessory rechaging dock to use with the already on the market refill stations.
