Scopes and sights are such a huge part of being a sniper that I'm a little bit confused as to why there is not yet a discussion thread for the subject. Also, I am curious as to what everyone uses on their rifles/pistols so........ ...........DISCUSS!

I've grown pretty fond of my red dot sight lately. That being said, I'm looking for a decent shotgun scope to replace it. Hoping to find something that is battery assisted and comes with a lens hood.

I like these more www.theshootersbox.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=231 If I use a red dot, I'm snap shooting, so I dont need a long tube sight. Scopes are another thing though. Now, Idont know if piantball guns do this, but I know you cant mix air rifle and real gun scopes because of their recoil if different...I'll explain. Air rifles can ruin power burning gun scopes because with a firearm, here is one solid recoil. But with a air rifle, there is to recoils, one backwards and one forward(from the spring or piston ramming forward). So a measly .117 cailber pelet gun will destroy a .50 cal. scope...pretty funny I think. But I dont think paintball guns do this, so we should be fine. And Major, I dont know what to do with you...you have a Trijicon sight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How much did that sucker set you back??

It cost me $40. I am serious. The flash kill cost me around $11.

www.dealextreme.com/Its not real (of course) but for paintball why would someone use a real one anyways? Even the real ones can't take a shot to the lens.

That would also be a good choice Archangel. I personally like the concept of the variable magnification I have just never used one with much success. I went and looked it up at Optics Planet, they have all of the specs listed there. I see that at the higher power the eye relief gets reduced some, will that be an issue for you?

Any advice on optics for an agressive player? I'm starting to use a T9.1 with First Strikes and am usualy upfront or close to it. Sounds like a red dot is the way to go, but I'd also like some magnification. So, something with a little magnification that's also quick to aim. Any input appreciated.

Well for really quick aim you'd probably want to use either a big diameter red dot (40mm or so) or a reflex holographic sight/red dot. Neither of these have any magnification though. Reason why it's difficult to reflex aim with a magnified sight/scope is because unless you look straight into it you'll get a distortion in the scope image (i.e you won't hit anything at all). If you set up a scope (with magnification) correctly and get the position you need to hold it in, into your muscle memory then this too becomes really quick to aim. Takes some practice and testing to get everything set up right and for all the movements to run smooth, but most people that finds their way here don't mind that much generally so i think it won't be a problem. A good suggestion of a scope then is one of the Nstar 1-4x or 1-6x scopes. They ain't too expensive and a few of the versions got nice diameter on the optics (bigger makes for easier aiming, especially with mask on) and the adjustable magnification is very nice for paintball.

@ shadow: i would suggest a reddot with a flip-to-side-magnifier behind it
