Since TPS is coming up ive been finding ways to get the best consistency and accuracy(legally). Ive found a couple of mods that I have found on different forums. One of which is the "paint settling mod" posted by wild on this very forum. snipertalk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=howto&action=display&thread=94I havent yet tested it yet but I do have high hopes for it, but the one that I am skeptical about doing is the hot water mod. www.techpb.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=128775According to what I read, you must insert a set of FS rounds into a barrel and then place it into a pot of hot water in a attempt to soften the shell of the rounds enough to allow you to make the fins more circular by applying pressure to the rounds by pushing them against each other making the nose of one round press against the fins of the round in front of it. I am skeptica about this in fear of completely destroying or deforming the rounds. Please give your opinion about this or any other mods pertaining to FS rounds.

If you do the hot water mod use the barrel you will be firing the rounds with that way they are the perfect size.

That make sense, but couldn't I smash or break the rounds when I start applying pressure to them?
I was told by someone on the Tiberius forum that using a Lapco Bigshot in a larger bore helps. Although that does seem contradictory to my paintball knowledge of bore to paint matching. Im using a tippmann so I cant get the FSR barrel. Anyway, since it doesnt make sense to have a .690 barrel improve fs accuracy, so I can assume the .687 version would be more appropriate?

The hot water mod doesn't work. I boiled 3 fs for 10 minutes, but they were still as hard and brittle as when I put them in.

No it wont make them more brittle to do that you sand the front end with fine grit sandpaper.

I'm not saying it made them more brittle, I'm saying it did nothing to them.

Sorry I just phrased it wrong, I was agreeing with you and then telling him how to increase the chance of break on target.

That's a good idea. I might try that some time.

wow. good thing I asked before I tried it. The sand paper is a good idea. I would like to improve the accuracy if possible. Im currently using a tippmann and a cp tactical 14" in .689 bore.
