protective equipment discussion.
do to the hijacking of flight (Story time with a sniper) and the suggested moving of posts to members only i thought a good subject has come up about a type of personal protection.
while we all think about knee pads, elbow pads, neck protector, and face mask. i am surprised by the number of players who do not consider or wear a athletic supporter/protective cup. if you do not know what i am talking about, then i have worded this correctly and it is now time for you to stop reading and go ask your parents to explain it.
there are different types of athletic protection. one i would suggest is a pair of sliding shorts with pocket for a cup. while most of these come with a plastic protective cup. i have found those plastic protective cups to be uncomfortable to where in a all day game.
some might not use one for this very reason.
one suggestion would be a soft foam protective cup. what i have done is to take a volleyball knee pad and take the 1/2 inch foam out of it and cut it to fit in the slider shorts. this is proven to protect from a paintball at close range and allows you the comfort as though you wear not wearing it. slider shorts are very comfortable and help when sliding into that bunker.
this is meant as a serious safety discussion, one that is shared in allot of different sports.

Thanks, wild, someone had to do it. And thank goodness it wasn't me. Delicate topic. Handled very well....[sorry I just couldn't pass on that one].

Don't forget the ladies. Getting shot in the chest is very painful. I suggest the ladies look at a vest. Even a thin vest helps.

Shouldn't this thread be under "gear", just asking.

OK, now that it is moved to the "Gear" section, lets get down to business:)
My brother suggested wearing a wedge behind your lower leg, if you do a lot of crouching. Like in baseball, that catcher wears 'knee savers'. He has used some before and he says that they work wonders.
Its not a "protection" of sorts, but it prevents wear and tear on your legs and knees.

I usually just ware thick pants and a long sleeve shirt. I rarely get big welts, and close range shots aren't too bad. Under armor in my opinion works perfectly in conjunction with camo pants and shirt. The only down side is you can only ware it when it is cool out. Really the only thing uncomfortable about paint ball for me is the masks since they trap tones of sweat in the padding. Crouching and lying down doesn't bother me either.

I found that short hair and a sweatband of some sort helps a lot and ofc theres difference in how different masks handle it.
