If anyone is interested a good friend of mine, Steve Wygant,
from up in Goshen, IN runs a shop that offers 3 D printers.
He'll also do some design work for what I take is a very
reasonable price. Here's a link to his site -
partdaddy.com/ BTW, some years ago Steve had
the crazy idea that he'd like to produce his own PB gun. At
the time he was already producing a number of his own
PB related products, including the Alias MKX Nerf Launcher,
as well as a radio remote mine, RIS rails, etc. I told him
the US Military was looking seriously at buying the H&K
XM8 to replace the M4. He liked the looks so much that
he built a dead ringer copy, only in 68 caliber. It got a
lot of attention at the Shot Show, including from officials
from H&K who wanted to know where he'd gotten hold
of the plans. Imagine the looks on their faces when he
told them he'd done it using just photos he'd seen of it.
He even managed to copy the different types of plastic
that felt like rubber as well as the type they made the
stock from. End of story a few years later H&K got a
smuck law firm to suit anyone who had anything that
looked like an H&K product. Steve got off easy, cause
they remembered they'd given him the green light to
see if DOD was interested in his design. All he had to
do was agree not to produce any more of them, so if
you happen to know anyone who has one, tell them
to hang onto it cause it might be worth something
one of these days.
