One of the critical aspects of playing as a sniper in paintball, is your ability to find your opponent and get them in your sights AND take them out before they even know you are there...
The ability to move with stealth and use your cover. While often hiding mere feet from your enemy, is extremely enjoyable. Especially when you squeeze the trigger with one shot, and take out their high value players!
I realize there are a lot of misconceptions about snipers in paintball, with certain people doing their best to categorize paintball snipers into players using certain equipment, or rounds.
But, a sniper doesn't need to spend a fortune on their gear. I am running a $10 Tippmann A-5. And I invented a new barrel system which allows me to shoot "flat" out to 125-150 feet using regular paintballs. This allows me to play at ANY field in the country, without being dependent on first strike rounds. I can also use a small marker that doesn't hinder my movement.
Here is my first "sniper" video, full of tips and tricks for anyone who wants to play this way. The key of course is practice. The more you play, and the more you shoot with your gear, the better you will get at the game. Learning to one shot kill is a skill that takes years, and thousands of shots to obtain.
This video has gone viral, with over 1,500+ views per day since I released it this summer. If you search "paintball sniper" on youtube, it will be the first video you see!
Here is my next sniper tips video, I will show you how to flank the other team. In this one, stealth is critical, as you are flanking the other team, and holding one side of the field for your team. Keeping your position secret until you MUST fire. (again, without the other team knowing you are even there) can be the difference of winning or losing a game! I also use my sidearm (Tippmann Tipx) in this one with my LEFT hand, to get a couple of kills!
Here is my third Sniper video. In this video I am guarding my teams flag... But, instead of standing in the open right next to our flag, I utilize my experience playing to scout the field, and make an educated guess on where the other team will attack.
I guess right, but the question is, can ONE sniper hold off an entire attack team by themselves?... Even after firing and giving away their position? They can if they utilize a move I like to call "The Gambit"!
Ever been playing and you are moving up to attack, when you realize the other team has taken a part of the field giving them a tactical advantage? Your only option is to rush in and likely get shot, or to backtrack and try and take out their attack team... Watch as I go from attack to sniper role based on the flow of the game! This video was featured recently by Tippmann Sports on their facebook for snipers!
Sometimes YOU are the sniper, and other times... Always pay attention as snipers are everywhere...
Here is my Paintball Assassin's Tips and Tricks #2 that I just finished, in this video you will see some tricks that you can use when playing in the woods. Don't be predictable, and learn to "read" the field to predict troop movements. If you do, you can often tear down their team by hitting them hard and fast. And if you are good enough, lots of their players will swarm to your position leaving other parts of the field open for your team mates!
And just for fun, here is a video I just made that shows how long and flat my MonsterSpin barrel can shoot! This particular field position is too far away for regular paintball barrels to be able to shoot into... But, with my MonsterSpin barrel it gets paint right in there!
