Most of the tactics, gear recommendations, and other info on this site dates back to 2011. Much changed since then in the realm of Paintball Sniping. Back then, Tiberius was king, rifled barrels were only starting to be used, and Chicago considered 50 yards to be a 'long shot' (albeit, one he could easily make). Today, there are a growing list of FSR markers out there, rifled barrels have been tested and proven as one of the most important aspects to a solid platform, and it seems that 100+ yard shots are common.
Since 1) The forum has been SUPER busy lately, and 2) there is a new generation of Snipers joining the ranks each day, would anyone care to work with me to create an updated 'State of Sniping Fall2013’ thread? We can cover equipment, tactics, and other relevant topics that have changed since this site went live.
It might even help bring in new membership (if it looks like the forum is still active)

I think that's a great idea.
I still lurk around this forum every now and then, and it would be great to get some current recommendations for gear. Most of my play happens in the fall, so for me the season has just started.

Well the biggest thing I think (new 2013) is the rise in use of FSR. Seems to me that more folks are running with them and playing close quarters rather than sniping (here in the South West, US). So not a rise in sniping necessarily.
The MR5 is being talked about allot on local boards and folks are running with FSR and a hopper. So maybe this DUAL action play is appealing to a larger crowd.

I've been looking into the MR5 for dual-action play myself. FSRs are too expensive for CQC (imo) and a little versatility goes a long way.
Plus the MR5 is relatively cheap and as I don't play too often, it would be a perfect fit for me.
