Just bought a new box of FSR. 100 count from local shop. Here in Phx we dont have anyone but this shop that ~occasionally carry them. I support them by purchasing a 100 count whenever they are in stock.
Anyways after opening up they all seem to have a very light (bu noticbly) burr on the end of the fin in same spot. So this looks like and issue with the manufacturing. My question is has anyone had experience with returning rounds to TA ?
I might be the 1st if they turn out to be flying all over the place.

I've only see one or two in my life (and I've shot thousands upon thousands of first strike rounds); but, I've heard of others seeing them - but, never a whole box.
And yes, some people actually use sandpaper and make the surfaces perfect smooth (but, that's only visually so I'm nopt sure what the turbulance would look like on the actual surface. I haven't gone that far yet. May be if I was in a tournament for big bucks (sorry coralnerd, master)

I recently bought two boxes from my local shop and noticed oddities in virtually the same spot on all 200 rounds.

I have recently seen the same issue with the last 200 I have shot. I have noticed some accuracy degradation in the rounds. Strangely, I haven't had any breaks in the Paradigm Pro I was shooting on loan from Nessy. However, my T9.1 is breaking fins upon loading into the chamber. Very irritating!!! Additionally, I am getting a ton of barrel breaks from these rounds when shooting through the LAPCO riffled barrel but no so much through the stock smooth barrel. I'm kinda disappointed with the current run of FSR that Tiberius is putting out.

Additionally, I am getting a ton of barrel breaks from these rounds when shooting through the LAPCO riffled barrel but no so much through the stock smooth barrel. I'm kinda disappointed with the current run of FSR that Tiberius is putting out. I just received a couple of boxes of first strikes but I haven't opened them up yet. I will tell you that this is not the first indication that things change with the process in producing first strikes. In the early days when first strikes only came in the eight-round tubes (no bulk packaging) they were, in my opinion, a higher quality round. They appeared rounder to the naked eye. When Tiberius switched from sending everything in 8-round tubes to bulk packaging the rounds themselves seemed to be degraded in quality. They were sometimes oblong. Some of us noticed that the bulk rounds didn't fly all that consistently. That's when we began experimenting with paint shakers and putting the rounds nose down in tubes. I have always thought that when rounds were freshly produced and put into the tubes that the end product was better than just leaving them in bulk. For what it's worth, I shared my concerns with Tiberius at the time and it denied any changes in production. The Tiberius forum contained quite a number of forum posts from players who didn't know why things had changed but were complaining that the differences in the accuracy of the rounds were very noticeable. I passed on my observations that putting the rounds nose down in tubes for awhile seemed to improved the accuracy of the rounds and I was told that the people at Perfect Circle (who make first strikes) said that doing that wouldn't change anything because the paint wouldn't shift around in the round all that much no matter how it was stored. Yeah right. I mention this for two reasons. First, Tiberius probably won't even acknowledge there is a problem. That was what they did before. As a Company, they probably have some concerns about refunds and trying to actually determine what a defective round is or isn't. Second, first strike rounds did change for the worse at sometime in the past. That may have been attributable to the switchover to bulk rounds but the change was there nevertheless. On the bright side, you can bet that if enough people start complaining about the same kind of problem, Tiberius will be on the phone with Perfect Circle inquiring about what happened, even if we never hear about that phone call. Keep those cards and letters coming in. The other thing I would suggest is that people who get bad paint should call Tiberius and register your dissatisfaction. Tiberius hasn't always been very good at really listening to its equipment users and, historically, they haven't gone out of their way to learn about problems. You would think that the Tiberius Forum (and Chicago has presented the problem there) would be the appropriate place to raise this kind of issue, but from what I can tell no one is really taking Chicago seriously over there. Make that call to Tiberius. That will get its attention.

Hmm this is really troubling, i've shot probably 2000 First strikes atleast in my time, i've only had one single round with defect fins and i've still never had a single chop or barrel break while using first strikes (and i do play with the lapco .863 rifled).
Like Trinity i always have my rounds stored nose down for about two weeks before using them (i even go so far as to keep them in a cooler bag to keep them at constant temperature). And i can definitely say that it makes a difference accuracy wise. Problem is if they start making defect rounds then you can't really do anything about.
Im just about to order a couple of boxes as well, will report in what condition they're in.

I can't wait to see if the arrival of the scarab arms round is going to change things... I suppose it would have to be consistent and be subject to a good QA at the manufacturing plant...
