With long arms being able to be more authentic looking due to magfeed and 13ci tanks hidden on gun, I had thought that the RAP4 line of .43 pistols was going to bring that same level to sidearms (no offense Tib and Tipp, making a realistically sized pistol in .68......). But it appears that .43 is outlawed, banned or shunned in many paintball circles. So, Tib, RAP4, whoever... here's my X-Mas wish: 1:1 Glock-esque pistol in .50. Stainless rifled barrel. Somebody invent .50 fin-stab rounds. High-cap magazines fed separate from 12grm CO2 cyl. Actuating blow-back not necessary but an internal reg/exp chamber would step up the game.... the list goes on.... oh yeah did I mention "select-fire"? No. And select fire. Thanks.

A pistol made to those specs would run into just as many problems as today's .43 cal pistols. The reason .43 has been 'outlawed' is because fields don't carry that caliber paint as their field paint. These same fields are almost always FPO. It would be the same issue with .50 cal paint or .62 cal paint or anything except .68 cal paint. Plus...a 1:1 glock-esque pistol wouldn't have enough room for a 12gram and the paint, not even at .50 cal.
Pistols are not applied to paintball the same way that they are applied to other sports (read:airsoft) or real life, because in those other situations pistols are less powerful and less accurate than an operators primary weapon. In paintball, pistols can be uniquely effective. They are just as accurate, and fire just as far as any other marker. Pistols have the same limitation as every paintball gun on the market, they all fire an imperfect sphere of paint at less than 300FPS.

I am really thinking someone will come up with a 50 cal pistol. The new jt line is doing really good with the splat masters.Strange how 50 took a new route and is doing good.

Awesome thread and ideas! This spawns an array questions: Would a .50 cal fin-stabilized round fly better than a .68 caliber FS? Would it be less stable? Would the decrease in drag be significant? How would the reduction of mass affect it's flight?
What do you guys think?

I think it would be slightly less stable due to less mass, the principals comparing .308 and .223 would hardly apply since you would still be limited to the same velocity, you might see some increase in range due to less drag. Observe that this is purely guesswork on my behalf.
