Okay so on few other forums ive heard the idea kicked around that it isn't worth the extra $150 to buy a T9.1 because the T-8.1 is just as accurate. Now I realize you can mount a scope on a t-9.1 but is over all accuracy really increased enough to spend extra?

I've actually heard this debate as well. Had it a couple times too! Really what the discussion comes down to is whether or not you'll be using first strikes as your primary ammo source. If you are then the T9.1 would make more sense because it gives you the option to have the stability of the rifle and the rifled barrel that comes with it. Optics can be better utilized with the 9.1, be they the humble red dot or the magnified scope.
Does it justify spending the extra $150? Well that's really up to the individual to decide. I've shot first strike out of a 8.1 and I was still thrilled with their performance, however after using the rifled barrel I can't see myself ever going back. It would feel like a waste to shoot first strikes out of anything else and for this player, that constitutes spending the extra money to be able to do.
Hope this helps. It's in no way an unbiased review though. Take it as you will.
Good hunting.

Totally late to this discussion, but while it's true that the pistol does shoot just as well with a stock barrel, don't forget that you can run a hopper on the 9.1 and have in stock air. Comes down to what archangel said initially: purpose, but for me, I didn't feel the 8.1 "scaled" and to have those options was worth the extra.

If you intend to shoot FS then for me this isn't a even something worth discussing. To gain the full amount of using FS you NEED a sight (either red dot or scope) that is properly dialed in. You cannot get as accurate shooting a 8.1 without a scope period (in theory it might be possible but your forgetting the person holding the marker and how well he can aim using either or). Not to mention the stability of a rifle.
Also as mentioned the added options you get with a t9.1 will help improve accuracy. Stock will keep the marker steady, rifled barrel is the meanest thing on the market, a sight or scope will greatly increase a persons accuracy assuming it's dialed in and the person knows how to use it. Even the Bi-pods you get or can attach to the t9.1 will add stability in many situations.
So in my opinion IF you intend to use FS then a 8.1 can never come close to the effectiveness of a t9.1.

If you could find one of the discontinued T8.1 MP7 bodies that would give you the stock and rail for a scope, then you could get a lapco 16in .690 barrel and attach a rifled hammer head barrel to it. GodzHate did that to his t9.1, so it does work. As for bipods you can get a barrel attaching bipod. The whole trick to this is finding the MP7 body since they discontinued it. It's also going to be about the price of a T9.1 ranger one you get everything but the barrel.
