Thought i'd put a post here since it's been empty.
Mines! they're sort of a sniper best friend. What kinds do you guys use if you use any?
I myself have only used booby mines. They work great, only downside i've found is that the string is a bit too short.
best way to put them is at about groin height, pull the string down to about low knee height before you pull it across the path you want to mine, that way you get maximum coverage of the paint while still being able to hide it easily.

How did it work for you?
I play a lot more rec games than scenario at the moment, so I have less of a need for the use of mines (much less time to set them up). I've always wanted to give it a try though.

if you have that problem it's usually because you set them up wrong. If you want to make sure all paint flies one way a easy way to do this is to tape paper around it so that only the side is left open.

What energy source do these actually use to "throw" the paint?

That's basically the answer to the question I was asking. I was being general by referencing energy as in: is it making some use of air, some way of using the string being tripped (yes even chemical reaction) etc to release the paint.

Those mines work great, but each has their own purpose. Claymore are more for enclosed spaces or lanes where you can conceal a trip wire. They also work with remotes. Because claymores stand out you have to be picky where you place them. They can take out multiple targets. Since they are spring powered they can quickly be re-deployed on the field. They can also be placed on the field out in the open and not rigged to blow. This is used to keep players away from an area or to funnel them into an ambush.
Pressure mines are placed on high traffic areas and take much more time to set up. They will take out one player at a time, most of the time. Since they are well concealed, more can be used together to cut down the morale of the OP For.

there is also certain booby mines and grenades that work with a lighting cap and a small explosive. Never tried any of these but from the reviews and clips i've seen of them they seem to work pretty well. And no there isn't any safety problems with it since the explosive is small enough that you could hold the grenade in your hand and be unharmed. (only brand i can think of now that uses this system is ENOLA, i think there's others but can't remember the names)

Yeah, never use a mine that has a fuse for a real explosive rather than using air pressure. You can cause a fire, or worse hurt the players.

You could set a trip mine at the opening of a fort, then set up a sniping position up top. The mine might not keep people out if there's more than one person, but it would warn you.

Funny story ..... I ran a scenario with a friend of mine, based in WWII. We had one part of the German lines mined or at least the Allies thought it was. We had many small signs with "minen" on them and skull with cross bones. Players wouldn't cross the area and many probed the soil with tree branches. There wasn't a single mine used, but it stopped the Allies in their tracks.
